The following videos were made while I worked in China as an academic manager with EF Education First. I made these for prospective teachers (I used to hire teachers for EF) and I think they reflect my abilities using programs such as imovie and video editor.

Introduction to EF video:

Here are a few more videos:

I hope you enjoyed these and have learned a little bit more about my academic history as an ESL teacher and manager in China!

Photos from Abroad

I often conducted demonstration lessons for prospective students and parents. Although many of the kids that I worked with were very young learners, I found that I learned something every time I taught a new group! So much fun!

Observation and teacher training was a large part of my job while working as a Senior Director of Studies with EF Education First.

Here we are setting up for a demonstration show at a local shopping center in Inner Mongolia.

Chinese students love Christmas! We held large events with parents and students every year!

EF Education First's 2018 Annual Conference in Thailand. Each year all of EF's academic managers would travel to exocit locations to learn more about education and goals within the company.

Team building is a large part of what we do as teachers!

Here I am in 2018, ready to speak about teaching at a conference.

Our #2 center location in Inner Mongolia.

It's all about the people you work with :)

This photo was taken in 2017 during a training segment in hohhot, Inner Mongolia. The purpose of the training was to describe EF Education First's system in the classroom and our benefits for students and teachers.

Self Introduction and Academic Standpoint

Hello everyone - my name is Scott Keane and I have been working as a teacher of English as a second language for the past twelve years. Although born and raised in Canada, at the age of twenty-three I decided to leave for a time to pursue my educational career abroad.

I have taught and worked as an academic manager in countries such as Japan and China, and have trained with some of the world's top instructors as an employee of EF Education First, the world's leading ESL institution.

- Wang, 2017

Please click on the above link for more information regarding EF Education First. Also, I will create a link below that leads to my resume.

During my time with EF, I was a Senior Director of Studies with their centers in Inner Mongolia, an autonomous region in China. I have also worked as a manager and teacher in Tokyo, Tianjin, Shijiazhuang, and Qinhuangdao. Through EF, I have traveled to cities such as Hong Kong, Beijing, Shanghai, South Korea, and Thailand as both a trainer and trainee. Last year at the EF Education First National Conference in Thailand, I was a guest speaker. It was my pleasure to work with EF, and my experiences helped make me the educator and manager I am today.

Returning to Canada in 2019, I decided that I wanted to pursue a career as a teacher in my home country. My experiences abroad were eye-opening and extremely inspirational. I completed my undergraduate degree in English through Thompson Rivers University in Kamloops, British Columbia. I also have two-year Canadian diploma in print journalism (Sheridan College). I have written for multiple Canadian newspapers over the years and continue to write each day!

Loosely translated, the above Chinese proverb declares that, "a single good teacher is worth more than a million books". Teachers, I think, that focus on encouraging students to better understand cultural diversity are really paving the way towards a better future. My standpoint as an educator is to teach students to care about each other and to develop a sense of what it means to exist and grow in the multicultural landscape of Canada. I want everyone in my class to feel represented!

- Nefeli, 2017

Currently enrolled in the teacher education program at Brock University. Here, I hope to learn more about my craft and to ensure that I become the best teacher I can be! I have a lot to learn, but, with the combined help of my fellow teacher candidates and instructors, know that I can achieve my goals.

I have divided this digital portfolio into the following segments (please follow the provided links):

  • My digital academic resume and cover letter
  • Links to several YouTube videos I have made related to working with my former employer, EF Education First
